It's over
After an amazing battle with advanced lung cancer, my dad died today from an ecoli infection in his leg.
It was fast. He went into the hospital on Friday and died this afternoon...around 48 hours. Phil was peaceful and surrounded by family...including family he didn't like which is a subject for another day :)
The last several weeks have been ones of gradual decline due to excessive fluid around his heart which was finally taken care of on Friday night. (again, another topic for another day) It was still a surprise as the Tuesday before his doctor told him he had probably another 6 months or so.
He wasn't ready to go. And until they had enough morphine on board, he was agitated and angry. There were things he wanted to do and he kept putting them off until he saved more money or when it was warmer or some other random excuse.
I don't want my deathbed to be a place of regret.
