What I'm reading
Best fiction I've read in a long time
Suite Francaise
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1400044731/sr=8-1/qid=1154013099/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-7711167-8739010?ie=UTF8
Forget the fact that the author was a Russian Jewish emigre that got sent to die in the camps...this is just a damn good story! It's about the German invasion of France and its aftermath. The insight that this woman had into true human nature is amazing. So much of what she wrote is till true today about the ability of people to throw others under the bus. I've heard said that at the end of life there can be amazing clarity. You can really see that Irene understood humans, French and German. No one is a monster...no one is an angel. Amazing book...go read!
